Overview
A fairy queen of north Munster who appeared as a banshee to Brian Boru on the eve of the Battle of Clontarf, foretelling his death; her dwelling was the rock of Craig Liath in County Clare.
The story behind Aibell
On the eve of Clontarf in 1014 Aibell appeared to Brian Boru and prophesied that the first of his sons he saw next morning would succeed him; the king saw Murchad, who fell with him in battle.
