The greatest hero of the Ulster Cycle, son of Lugh and Deichtine, who single-handedly defended Ulster against the army of Queen Medb in the Táin Bó Cúailnge.
The story behind Cú Chulainn
Cú Chulainn defended Ulster single-handed against Medb's army at the fords of the north; when finally mortally wounded he tied himself to a standing stone so he could die on his feet, and even then the warriors dared not approach until a raven settled on his shoulder.
